If all you have is the PvP edition, you will only be able to create PvP characters which are restricted to the Battle Isles. PvP characters start out at level 20 with maxed equipment, and have an equipment generator interface that lets them spawn new gear with the bonuses you want - hence there is no need for regular merchant or crafter NPCs in these areas.

For access to the story/roleplaying section of the game (PvE), you will need to buy the retail version of the game.

Because you bought the pvp edition of Propheces you can only access the pvp portion of the game. If you want to play the storyline and be able to access other areas of the game you will have to buy the full version.

To get armour and weapons on the pvp haracter go to your inventory and click equipment, you can then choose your armour and weapons.

No, PVP only characters are restricted to the battle isles. You'll need to create a new PvE character which can go anywhere.

Your pve characters, however, can move into the pvp areas once they get far enough through the campaign.

can't do AB if you don't own factions...pvp edition or pve edition...if you own the pvp edition of factions...you can still access AB....also in order to open more "arenas" you must win 5 Random arena matches in a row....that will take you to "team arena" win 10 total there and it will take you to "heros ascent"

I'm pretty sure it's 5 wins in Team Arenas to get to Heroes' Ascent.

The difference between the PVP version and the PVE version is that you start at level 20 and have every single skill and equipment mods unlocked in the PVP version, but you do not have the PVE world to play in.

In the PVE version, you have to explore the world to unlock skills and equipment mods.

I honestly feel that the fact that the PVP version does not contain any PVE content should be shown clearer on the packaging. And also that it shouldn't be more expensive than the PVE version. But thats just me.

Thats a question which is often asked. lol.

If you want to start at the beginning, go for Prophecies, if you want to farm loads of gold easier go for Factions (also gives 2 extra char types to choose from ontop of the basic 6)
If you want heros to help you with your quest (basically henchies which you can set up, customize and control... in a very limited way currently aswell as a different set of 2 extra char classes) then choose Nightfall.

On a side note, the Heros in Nightfall will gain an advantage that you have the PvP edition on your account as they will be able to use any skill unlocked to your account.
